CLASS DATE 11/22/25 10:00am The Basic Pistol Class is designed for new shooters and those looking to build a solid foundation in safe and effective handgun handling. Participants will learn the core fundamentals of pistol operation in a structured, professional, and supportive environment.

What You’ll Learn

  • Firearm safety and range etiquette (non-negotiable)

  • Fundamentals of shooting

  • How your firearm works: basic mechanics, common malfunctions, basic maintenance

  • Drawing from concealment: safe, efficient draws and reholstering practices (dry & live-fire)

  • Practical, hands-on live-fire exercises to build accuracy and speed under control

  • Overview of Georgia use-of-force concepts and legal considerations (educational only — not legal advice)

  • Decision-making: avoiding common mistakes, de-escalation awareness, and post-incident steps

Important legal note: The course provides an educational overview of Georgia law related to self-defense and use of force. This is not legal advice. For case-specific guidance or questions about how the law applies to you, consult a licensed Georgia attorney.

Prerequisites & Policies

  • Must be 18 years or older. (Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian and must let us know before sign up)

  • Basic safe handling knowledge is recommended. If you’re brand new to firearms, contact us before registering so we can advise.

  • All participants must complete the range safety brief and follow instructor and range commands at all times.

  • No alcohol or recreational drug use within 12 hours of the class.

  • We reserve the right to remove anyone acting unsafely

Gear & Ammunition (what to bring)

  • A reliable semi-automatic pistol or revolver you are comfortable using (if you don’t have one, contact us about limited rental options)

  • Concealed carry holster you’ll use for drawing (strongly recommended but not necessary)

  • Minimum 250 rounds (300 recommended) — plan for extra live-fire practice

  • At least 3 magazines (recommended)

  • Eye and ear protection (mandatory) — electronic muffs recommended (we do have disposable ear plugs and extra eye protection if needed)

  • Sturdy, closed-toe footwear and weather-appropriate clothing

  • Water, snacks or packed lunch

Safety & Range Rules

  • Follow the instructor and range officer at all times.

  • Keep firearms unloaded and holstered (or actions open) until instructed otherwise.

  • If you are unsure about any procedure, ask before you act. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
